Staff Meeting almost comes to blows...
AAAaaaacccckkkkk!!!So yesterday's staff meeting almost came to blows...
Cory was gone,
Donna was with a family,
which left Bill K leading the admin side of the meeting,
with Jane leading the clinical side.
We were fine until Steve S. accused the farm team of polluting
by driving people up and down to lower campus,
Wayne cut Steve off in his own defense,
Pauline accused Steve of stifling guest input at community meeting,
Bill started ranting about how the gazebos don't work,
CJ started talking about individual exceptions,
someone mentioned something about a referral form that Bill hadn't seen,
Bill started yelling about why he hadn't seen it,
other people started yelling that a lawyer had seen it and Bill didn't have to see it,
Bill decided that we needed to make a decision there and then on an unrelated issue,
Steve wanted to have everyone vote on an issue that didn't need a vote
(essentially wanted us to vote either for Pauline or for Steve),
volunteers started cutting holes in the floor to disappear into,
and some staff started laughing to see such sport,
and then, finally, the dish ran away with the spoon.
After the meeting was adjourned, Bill and Jane got into a shouting match
(not really... but a very heated debate that had Jane swearing about it late into the evening).
it was amazing... People are still talking about it.
And I ask, who put the comptroller and consummate-no-sayer-who-has-no-tolerance-for-process in charge of the staff meeting?
The answer: the clinical director who couldn't say no and didn't anticipate the mess we all were in for...
Ah, spring time at the farm.
Later I'll write again when I have something more positive to say... and there are plenty of positive things... but it's late.
