Hiya, MonsterL! I didn't know that you started working a new job! I haven't really been reading blogs very much lately. Is it an improvement over where you were before?
So Candy and Sandy are the only staff who have retired? It's strange to think that everyone is still there! But where have the rest of the Topsiders gone? And wherefore the Green Dragon?
If GF really wants to bring back old staffers for a reunion, they need to send out some letters. I wouldn't have known anything at all about the centennial events if I hadn't been tipped off in a Christmas card. How else would we far flung people find out?
It's too bad there's not a GF newsletter for ex-staffers to keep us up-to-date on things. I'm still getting regular updates from the sailing ship I worked on, which, as luck has it, is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year! It's nice to think about my ship slipping into the waters of Maine at the very same moment Mr. G. first shoved his spade into the soil.
Right, back to my reading now. My school term's just started, and things are about to get craaazy around here. Like, Code Level: Haggis.
Kt, I couldn't believe it when I signed onto my other blog and noticed that there was a new post here! HUZZAH!
Tizzy and Joel, how is new parenthood?! I still need to get out your way for a visit; since starting the new job in October I don't have much vacation time until the spring, but perhaps a weekend train trip then!! Mapquest says we're only 7 hours apart these days!
As far as the Farm Centennial, I believe it's to be the weekend of August 16th, and I for one, will be there, and hope to see as many of you as possible! WOO HOO! I know they are hoping that as many former staff as possible will come back and in some respects it will be the first of hopefully many reunions.
As far as who's still around? TSO, Amy & CJ, Beth & Ben, all the old timers minus Candy and Sandy who have both retired. The Farm is still sans director, the most recent having left this past summer if I remember correctly, apparently Donna's in charge...right TSO?
I hope all are well, and can you believe it's 2013? Much love!
Monster
That's about the rate of it, one a year. Plus, what is happening with this new Blogger format? It's so confusing.
Yay, Tizzy! Glad to hear from you. I've been wondering how things have been going for you lately. Please tell us all about new mommyhood.
I see that GF has a 100 year centennial celebration this year, culminating in a reunion picnic this August. I'm tempted to go if there are enough people around who I would still remember. (And if I can finagle the travel.) Who's still around from 2006 - 2007? Who else would fancy a Topside reunion?
And does anyone know where Basti and Nora are? I might be in Germany sometime soon, and I wouldn't mind looking them up.
Until Google reminded me to update my blog, I had forgotten all about that and its' connections...
As some of you know, there are big changes afoot. I've lived in 4 places since getting married in 2009 and late this month, I'll be moving for the last time for a long while. Ironically, it is the house next door to my folks (where the luau was held prior to our wedding). The whole place is under renovation - carpets, flooring in most rooms, new heating/Air Conditioning (A necessity in a city that hits over the 100 degree mark often in July-Sept.), and a re-do of the basement where a leaky water heater took all the two unfinished rooms down there (frowny face). It'll all work out I tell myself.
Other than that, we're also due with our first child in August. A baby girl in fact. :) Super excited about this, but trying to taper my enthusiasm as there are a few months to go before meeting her.
Work wise, I work part time as a Chocolatier - Bissinger's - for now. The chocolate is amazing and ... Yum.
I loved reading all the updates, it was like the past 5 months of conversation in a 10 minute interval.
I hope you all are well and if you are ever in the STL area, let me know. We're going to have quite a bit of room - esp if you don't mind a little baby crying.
